ClassReel Terms & Conditions

Effective Date: August 14, 2026

These Terms and Conditions govern your use of ClassReel, a service operated by N. Woolard Works, a sole proprietorship owned by Nathan Woolard. These Terms govern access to and use of the ClassReel website, teacher accounts, classroom recording and submission tools, media-processing features, family access features, subscriptions, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

By creating a ClassReel account, purchasing a subscription, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you use ClassReel on behalf of a school, district, organization, or other entity, you represent that you are authorized to use the Service on its behalf.

If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

1. About ClassReel

ClassReel is an educational service that allows teachers to create classroom projects and assignments through which students can submit video, audio, photographs, images, and other teacher-requested media.

ClassReel may also provide features that process or combine submitted media, generate presentation videos, organize student submissions, provide temporary family access, and allow authorized users to view or download submitted content.

ClassReel is intended as a classroom recording and media-management tool. It is not intended to serve as permanent storage for student records or media.

2. Teacher Accounts

Certain ClassReel features require a teacher account.

You are responsible for providing accurate account information, maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials, and taking reasonable steps to prevent unauthorized access to your account.

You are responsible for activity conducted through your account unless the activity results from circumstances for which ClassReel is legally responsible.

You should notify ClassReel promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without authorization.

ClassReel may require email verification or other reasonable account-verification measures before providing access to certain features.

3. Student Use

Students ordinarily do not create individual ClassReel accounts.

Students may access teacher-created assignments through links, QR codes, or other access methods provided by their teacher.

Teachers and schools are responsible for determining whether students are authorized to participate in a particular assignment and for obtaining any school, district, parent, guardian, or other authorization required for their particular use of ClassReel.

ClassReel should not be used to request personal information from students that is unnecessary for the educational activity.

4. Teacher and School Responsibilities

Teachers and schools using ClassReel agree to use the Service for legitimate educational purposes and in accordance with applicable laws, school or district policies, and any requirements that apply to their particular use.

Teachers and schools are responsible for:

  • Determining whether ClassReel is approved for their intended use;
  • Obtaining any permissions, notices, or authorizations required for their use;
  • Creating appropriate assignments and instructions;
  • Avoiding unnecessary collection of student personal information;
  • Protecting account credentials, project links, and access codes;
  • Managing who receives family access codes;
  • Downloading any media that must be retained before its scheduled deletion; and
  • Using downloaded student media in accordance with applicable laws and school or district policies.

N. Woolard Works' own legal obligations remain the responsibility of N. Woolard Works and are not transferred to teachers or schools by these Terms.

5. Submitted Content

Students, teachers, schools, and other authorized users may submit or provide videos, audio recordings, photographs, images, names, text, instructions, and other content through the Service ("User Content").

ClassReel does not claim ownership of User Content merely because it is uploaded to or processed through ClassReel.

You represent that you have the rights or authorization reasonably necessary to submit User Content through the Service for the intended educational purpose.

You grant ClassReel a limited right to host, store, copy, transmit, process, modify, combine, display, and otherwise handle User Content only as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, support, and provide the Service, comply with applicable law, and carry out the functions requested through ClassReel.

This limited right does not permit ClassReel to sell student submissions or use them for behavioral advertising.

6. Media Processing

Certain ClassReel features may process submitted media.

Processing may include:

  • Combining multiple video clips;
  • Combining audio recordings;
  • Converting media into compatible formats;
  • Combining photographs or images with corresponding audio;
  • Generating presentation videos; and
  • Performing other technical processing necessary to provide requested ClassReel features.

Media processing may take time and may occasionally fail because of network conditions, unsupported or corrupted media, third-party infrastructure, processing errors, or other technical circumstances.

ClassReel does not guarantee that every recording or processing job will complete successfully.

7. Temporary Storage and Automatic Deletion

ClassReel is not a permanent media-storage or archival service.

Under the current Service:

  • Free-plan student submissions are scheduled for automatic deletion after 10 days.
  • Pro-plan student submissions are scheduled for automatic deletion after 30 days.

Generated presentations and other processed versions of a submission generally share the retention period of the underlying submission rather than beginning a new retention period.

Teachers, parents, guardians, and other authorized users are responsible for downloading any media they wish or are required to retain before its scheduled deletion.

Once content has been deleted from active ClassReel storage, ClassReel may not be able to recover it.

Additional information about retention and deletion is provided in the ClassReel Privacy Policy.

8. Family Access Codes

ClassReel may provide an access code that allows a parent, guardian, family member, or other intended recipient to access a particular student submission.

A ClassReel account is not necessarily required to use such a code.

Access codes should be treated as private. Anyone who receives or obtains a valid code may be able to access the associated submission while that submission remains available and family access is enabled.

Teachers and other users who distribute access codes are responsible for sharing them only with appropriate recipients.

ClassReel may limit, disable, or otherwise restrict access when reasonably necessary to protect the Service, users, or student information.

9. Free Plan

ClassReel may offer a Free plan with access to designated features and limits.

Free-plan features, usage limits, project limits, submission limits, retention periods, and other restrictions may be described within the Service.

ClassReel may modify Free-plan features or reasonable usage limits as the Service develops. Material changes will not retroactively convert a Free account into a paid subscription without the user's authorization.

10. ClassReel Pro

ClassReel Pro is a paid subscription that provides access to additional features.

At the current published price, ClassReel Pro is $5.99 per month, unless a different price, promotion, trial, or offer is clearly displayed at the time of purchase.

Pro may include features such as:

  • Multi-part assignments;
  • Video, audio, and photo+audio assignment formats;
  • Per-part titles, prompts, time limits, and photographs;
  • Combined or processed media;
  • Presentation-generation features;
  • Longer media retention;
  • Bulk download and printing tools;
  • Additional or unlimited projects and submissions; and
  • Other features identified as Pro features within the Service.

The features available through Pro may evolve as ClassReel develops.

11. "Unlimited" Features and Reasonable Use

Some ClassReel plans or features may be described as "unlimited."

"Unlimited" means that ClassReel does not impose the ordinary numerical limit applied to the corresponding Free-plan feature. It does not mean infinite or unrestricted use of computing, storage, bandwidth, processing, or other resources.

Unlimited features remain subject to these Terms, technical limitations, security protections, applicable retention periods, and reasonable-use safeguards.

ClassReel may limit or restrict usage that is abusive, automated, fraudulent, substantially outside ordinary educational use, imposes an unreasonable burden on the Service or its infrastructure, or threatens the availability or security of the Service.

ClassReel will not use reasonable-use restrictions merely to impose an undisclosed ordinary project or submission cap on normal classroom use advertised as unlimited.

12. Billing and Automatic Renewal

Paid ClassReel subscriptions are billed through ClassReel's third-party payment processor.

Unless otherwise stated at checkout, a monthly ClassReel Pro subscription automatically renews each month until canceled.

By purchasing a recurring subscription, you authorize the applicable payment method to be charged the displayed subscription price and applicable taxes, if any, at the beginning of each billing period until the subscription is canceled.

Prices and billing terms presented at checkout are part of these Terms.

13. Cancellation

You may cancel a paid ClassReel subscription through the available subscription-management process.

Unless otherwise required by law or expressly stated at the time of purchase, cancellation stops future renewal charges and does not ordinarily result in a prorated refund for the current billing period.

After cancellation, paid features may remain available through the end of the already-paid billing period.

When paid access ends, the account may become subject to the features, limits, and retention rules applicable to the Free plan.

Users should download any content they wish to retain before a change in retention period could cause that content to expire.

14. Trials and Promotional Access

ClassReel may occasionally provide free trials, trial access codes, promotional access, discounts, or other special offers.

Eligibility, duration, features, expiration, and other conditions may vary by offer and may be stated when the offer is provided.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, promotional or trial access does not guarantee continued free access to paid features after the trial or promotional period ends.

A user will not be charged for a paid subscription solely because a free trial access code expires unless the user has separately authorized a paid subscription.

15. Refunds

Except where required by applicable law or expressly stated otherwise, subscription payments are generally non-refundable once a billing period begins.

If you believe you were charged incorrectly or experience a billing problem, contact ClassReel at support@classreel.org.

Nothing in these Terms limits any refund or cancellation rights that cannot legally be waived.

16. Acceptable Use

You may not use ClassReel to:

  • Violate applicable law;
  • Violate the rights of another person;
  • Upload content you do not have appropriate authorization to submit;
  • Harass, threaten, exploit, or harm another person;
  • Distribute malware or malicious code;
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to accounts, submissions, systems, or infrastructure;
  • Circumvent security measures, access controls, usage restrictions, or rate limits;
  • Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service without authorization;
  • Interfere with the operation or availability of the Service;
  • Use automated systems in a manner that places an unreasonable burden on ClassReel;
  • Attempt to obtain student submissions using access codes you are not authorized to use; or
  • Use ClassReel primarily for purposes substantially unrelated to its intended educational functionality.

ClassReel may investigate suspected misuse and take reasonable action to protect users and the Service.

17. Suspension or Termination

ClassReel may suspend or terminate access when reasonably necessary because of:

  • A material violation of these Terms;
  • Fraudulent or abusive activity;
  • A significant security risk;
  • Unauthorized access or attempted access;
  • Nonpayment of applicable subscription charges;
  • Legal requirements; or
  • Use that materially threatens the Service or other users.

When reasonably practical and appropriate, ClassReel may provide notice or an opportunity to correct a violation before terminating an account.

ClassReel may also discontinue the Service or particular features. When reasonably practical, ClassReel will provide appropriate notice of material changes that significantly affect paid users.

18. Third-Party Services

ClassReel relies on third-party providers for functions such as hosting, databases, media storage and processing, email delivery, payments, analytics, security, and other infrastructure.

Availability of ClassReel may therefore depend in part on systems outside ClassReel's direct control.

Use of certain third-party payment or technical services may also be subject to the applicable provider's terms and privacy practices.

19. Privacy

ClassReel's collection, use, storage, sharing, retention, and deletion of personal information is described in the ClassReel Privacy Policy.

The Privacy Policy should be read together with these Terms.

If ClassReel is used with children or student education records, additional privacy laws, school policies, or institutional requirements may apply.

20. Availability and Changes to the Service

ClassReel aims to provide a reliable Service but does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

The Service may occasionally be unavailable because of maintenance, updates, infrastructure failures, network conditions, security incidents, third-party outages, or circumstances outside ClassReel's reasonable control.

ClassReel may add, modify, replace, or discontinue features as the Service develops.

For paid subscriptions, ClassReel will seek to provide reasonable notice when practical if a material change substantially reduces the core functionality of the paid Service.

21. No Guarantee of Permanent Storage

ClassReel's automatic deletion system is a core characteristic of the Service.

Do not rely on ClassReel as the only copy of media or records that must be preserved.

Users are responsible for downloading and maintaining their own copies of material that they are required or wish to retain.

ClassReel is not responsible for loss of content caused solely by the normal operation of a clearly disclosed automatic deletion period.

22. Disclaimers

To the extent permitted by law, ClassReel is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.

ClassReel does not guarantee that the Service will always be available, that every recording or media-processing operation will succeed, that every device or browser will support every feature, or that the Service will be free from all errors.

Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties, protections, or rights that cannot legally be excluded.

23. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, N. Woolard Works and its service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of or inability to use the Service.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, ClassReel's aggregate liability arising from the Service or these Terms will not exceed the greater of:

  • The amount the affected user paid to ClassReel during the 12 months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim; or
  • $100.

These limitations do not apply to liability that cannot legally be limited or excluded.

24. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by applicable law, users acting in a professional, institutional, or organizational capacity agree to indemnify and hold ClassReel harmless from third-party claims arising directly from their unlawful use of the Service, content they submit without necessary rights or authorization, or their material violation of these Terms.

This provision does not require a teacher or school to indemnify ClassReel for ClassReel's own unlawful conduct, negligence, privacy violations, security failures, or obligations that applicable law places on ClassReel.

25. Changes to These Terms

ClassReel may update these Terms as the Service changes, its features evolve, or legal requirements change.

The Effective Date will be updated when these Terms are revised.

When appropriate or legally required, ClassReel may provide additional notice of material changes.

Changes will apply prospectively unless applicable law permits otherwise.

If a change requires affirmative consent under applicable law, ClassReel will obtain that consent where required.

26. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Alabama, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except to the extent applicable federal law or another law that cannot legally be waived or displaced applies.

Nothing in these Terms eliminates rights or remedies that cannot legally be waived.

27. Contact
